MANIFESTO TWO: March 30th, 2019
Brandon Joseph Baket’s second show under the title Manifesto was built on the same process as the series before, photographs he took in his studio, wheat-pasted and painted into. This time Baker built the images around the writing of Stanislaw Lem in Solaris. This philosophy novel disguised as Science Fiction crept into Baker’s subconscious, inspiring him to create and interpret favorite passages. Baker showed this body of work in 2019 and sold every piece but two the artist kept for himself. Baker created a printed guide to the show that unites each piece to the respective page number from the specific version he read. The guide is viewable in the video at the bottom of the gallery.
